Compilation of raw footage documenting MarMon weekend in Boston, April '24.
MarMon [Marathon Monday] is meant to celebrate the Boston Marathon, a historic annual event.
The Boston Marathon takes place on Patriot's Day of each year.
On the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before the day of the Boston Marathon, also Patriot's Day, BU students living both on-campus and off-campus traditionally host large, street parties all through-out the day.
On the day of the marathon, parties may start as early as 9AM, with people weaning out of the dormitory parties and off the streets at nighttime.
Many college students participate in drinking large amounts of alcohol with loud music playing, which frequently results in RAs being called for student cases ranging from alcohol poisoning, physical altercations, to noise complaints.
The union strategically planned their first strike to occur on the weekend of MarMon to show the university the importance of Resident Assistants, and why they should be compensated fairly.
BU Resident Assistants typically receive free on-campus housing, with single room benefits.
The RAs were striking for more benefits, mainly financial compensation for their work.

During the production of this documentary, my team faced numerous incidents and push-backs. The footage we were able to take was limited due to my teammate getting kicked out of meetings that we were given written allowance to. Lots of footage had to be edited out to due my team wanting to respect privacy and ethical documentary production practices. Only the 'MarMon Footage' is being shown here because the final documentary contains interviews with actual people participating heavily in the strike.
All of the close-ups of people in this 'MarMon Footage' are from people that consented to being filmed and included in this documentary.
